James Cook University announced that it has selected Open Spatial Australia to supply its Corporate Spatial Solution.

AUSTRALIA, Sydney July 16, 2012- Open Spatial has today announced that its Australian Asset Decision Support System  has been selected by James Cook University.

James Cook University (JCU) is a multi-campus university ranked in the top five percent of the world’s tertiary institutions.  JCU has a strong focus on the tropics, with its proximity to spectacular ecosystems of the rainforests of the wet tropics, the dry savannahs, and the iconic Great Barrier Reef.

The Open Spatial Asset Decision Support System will allow JCU staff, contractors and design consultants to better analyse facilities and asset data necessary to improve maintenance management on campus.  The solution is multi-faceted and will escalate the use of location intelligence throughout the campus, which eases the use of the campus for students and visitors.  This is achieved through the integration of business, asset and location information.

The Open Spatial solution has also paved the way to providing students, staff and visitors with a Way Finding routing solution, fully integrated with Google Maps.  This allows users to choose between walking/cycling/car routes on and off campus, for both the Townsville and Cairns campuses and city locales.
